Three Controller Choices: Programmable Logic Central Controller, Microprocessor Central Controller & LSR Controller

Programmable Logic Central Controller

The Series 2400 PLC Central Controller consists of two models: one controls up to 24 vacuum receivers and two blowers and the other controls up to 32 vacuum receivers and four blowers. Actual screen images appear on the right side of this web page.

Standard Features:

  • Allen Bradley Micrologix 1500 programmable controller with DeviceNet communications.
  • 5.7-inch color touch screen with a screen saver to extend screen life.
  • Controls four groups of up to 8 receivers each (32 total).
  • Provides selection for a backup spare blower.

Alarms: each receiver has three possible alarms:

1. Repeat Call (indicates receiver cannot easily satisfy demand for material).
2. Receiver Communication Fault (indicates receiver programmed ON cannot communicate to its receiver control node).
3. Receiver Output Shorted (node senses short circuit when it turns on a solenoid).

Receiver I/O Block

1. All receiver electrical connections use quick-connect plugs that are color coded for each device.
2. The receiver address is set with two rotary dials, which are viewable through a clear window.

Optional Features:

  • EEProm memory module for PLC program backup.
  • Modem kit enables the controller to be remotely accessed from Premier's office, allowing engineers to aid in diagnosing system malfunctions.
  • Receiver-mounted Run/Inhibit selector panel for local control of the receiver.

Microprocessor Central Controller

The Series 2400 MPC Central Controller controls up to 24 vacuum receivers in a single system. A low-voltage cable system with quick connect plugs allows the receivers to be connected to the Central Controller without tools. In addition, low-voltage wiring generally does not require an electrician or conduit, allowing for a less expensive electrical installation.

Designed for use with Series 2400 Receivers, the unit features an easy-to-use, touch-sensitive keypad. From one central location, the operator can turn receivers on and off, set the draw time for each receiver, and start the system’s blower package. Additional circuit boards are not needed as receivers are added. The unit is shipped pre-programmed, eliminating complex logic programming.

Additional features:

  • LED visual indicators inform operator of receiver’s status
  • Fully alphanumeric with 2-line by 16-character display
  • Easy on-screen system setup
  • Back-up blower capability
  • Blower shutdown feature automatically shuts down system at operator-selected intervals to allow a self-cleaning in-line filter to clean the bags
  • Password protection to restrict access to setup and option features
  • Built in networking capability and computer interface for data acquisition

Installation Kits

The Series 2400 Installation Kits make installing the Series 2400 system easier and more economical. Each kit includes all the necessary cable and “T” connectors to connect receivers to the Central Controller. The cable comes pre-terminated with “quick-connect” plugs to accommodate easy installation without tools. The “T” connectors act as a junction box for each receiver’s cable. Using these kits will reduce the chance for incorrect wiring, enabling a trouble-free installation and start-up.

LSR Controller

The LSR Controller consolidates several applications into one system allowing the LSR to control either a K-Tron Premier self contained loader or a single central receiver.
The controller is locally mounted with all 24 VDC unit devices pre-wired. An auto-switching power supply accepts 115 or 230 VAC. The front panel of the controller includes a potentiometer to set draw times, on/off switch, and multicolored LEDs indicate power/alarm, loading status and dump status. Available materials of construction for the enclosure are polycarbonate and stainless steel.
The LSR Controller allows for nine different operating modes selectable with internal rotary switch and 10-position dip switch. The controller provides precise, reliable control filling by time or level and various discharge configurations including gravity or powered gate. Control parameters include pulse cleaning, purge (line clearance) valve, ratio loading, level sensor, fill (sequence) valve, by-pass (vacuum breaker) valve and one vacuum pump motor when controlling a single central receiver. Using a serial connection the LSR can also be networked to external devices such as the KCM, (K-Tron Feeders Control Module), KSU-II (K-Tron Single Unit Display II) or K-Vision Single Line Controller.
